Prince’s Foundation invites public to Judge Summer House design for Dumfries House walled garden.

The Prince’s Foundation invites the public to have their say in the design of a new Summer House for the walled garden at Dumfries House. As part of the annual Summer School programme, students will see a live construction project through from design to build and the public are invited to participate in choosing the winning design.

During the Summer School, students work in teams to develop their designs one of which, will eventually take pride of place in the walled garden at Dumfries House. HRH, The Prince of Wales saved the Dumfries House Estate for the nation and the regeneration that has occurred since the purchase has seen significant transformation in the area.

The Summer House will be constructed in autumn by some of the Building craft students on the course. The workshop is the culmination of an intensive three week course, aimed at architects, planners, and craftspeople.

A Prince’s Foundation Spokesman said: “The Summer school is always a great programme bringing together a diverse range of students. Holding it at Dumfries House this year provides a great opportunity to focus on collaboration across the charities and providing a lasting testimont to the importance of preserving traditional Building Skills”
